We live in economic times. Unfortunately, with the inability of our schools to teach basic skills in arithmetic and reading to roughly 30 percent of our children, Our Economy suffers because of it. We have to keep the engines of commerce well-oiled and fueled. Our freedoms depend on economic growth as well as equal opportunities for citizens from all levels of economic security and financial accomplishment. The best way to combat poverty is to make economic opportunities available to as many as possible and that means fixing public schools.
